Sessions

Powerup Skating

Many of you have asked for a class with an emphasis on skating only. It continues where Discover Hockey program ended. This program will go much more in depth on specific subjects of skating introduced during Discover Hockey.

Proper, efficient skating is the base on which a player builds all other hockey skills, it is impossible to enjoy hockey more without being a good skater. Good skaters get to the puck faster, create more space for themselves, can pass and shoot better. Every hockey skill starts with skating.

The program consists of 6 sessions, that will run once a week. Many drills make use of pucks and all sessions include fun games and challenges.

Advanced Play

Designed for players who want to work on all aspects of their game and get a taste of everything, each session will concentrate on something specific like advanced skating techniques to give you a better balance and put you in positions where you can score goals and just feel more confident out there.

There is also sessions like stick handling secrets, passing with finesse so you can thread that puck through a tight space at the right time and also receive it if passed to you. A shooting made simple session covers all the hockey shots, and finally we cover positional play and teach you a bit of breakout magic so you can get out of your zone and be ready to strike.

The program runs weekly for 6 weeks, many drills include pucks and fun games.

Shooting Essentials

Sometimes we offer shooting specific sessions, for that we bring an expert in shooting technique that will show you all the essential nuances of shooting a puck hard and most importantly accurately so it goes in the net where you are aiming and when you want to.

This program covers important things like what curve, lie, flex should you use, how to lift the puck into the net, how to shoot harder, how to shoot the puck more accurately and quickly, what are the good spots to shoot from on a goalie to score a goal and shooting under pressure.

The program typically runs weekly for 3 weeks, most drills include pucks, fun games and challenges.

Many of the drills will involve controlled skating or controlling your speed as a skater, and being active without the puck and engaging with other teammates in small area games, rushes and even and odd strength situations.

Players will learn the following skills:

Delay + give and go tactics, balance and stride focussing on one leg isolation, shooting in stride, reading the defender/goalie (ie. finding shooting lanes), dekes and fakes (stationary and in motion), and one touch passes.
